Daniel is walking out towards the grave of his wife Clara having lost her so soon in his life. He is forever haunted by their memories together and thus begins to think he is still seeing her alive; trying to reach him from the other side. Evenutally Mr. Evanston sends him to a place called "Everdeen's Tide", a village just on the outskirts of Scotland. He is reluctant at first to go because of the conditon that keeps him ill-bound. He however decides to take the offering and once there he finds himself in unfamiliar territory and the people living there are anything but welcoming. Having lost one wife already he feels he shall never find love again that is untila sculry maid attends to him at the local end. They become rather close and a burning passionate event takes place between the pair of them. However, Daniel feels he is being taunted by the ghosts of his past. His sickly mother who died young, his repenative aunt and of course his wife Clara who scolds him in the afterlife for loving another woman. Will he survive the trip back home?

He instantly develops a crush on her but doesn't feel like he is good enough or even brave enough to ask her out. A few weeks pass and Daniel has by this point become good friends with the rest of the neighborhood teenagers, Chad, Samantha, Tiffany and her boyfriend Ben, Zack and Sasha. All of whom notice that Daniel's crush on Kelli is quite noticable and predictable. He eventually decides to hold a game night over at his house during the 4th of July. While Kelli assumes it is just going to be an ordinary "friend get-together" her friends and don't tell Daniel's secret plan. Just an ordinary "coming of age" firsh love typical story.
