On January 31, the Sundance Film Festival will expand to audiences across the country for one special night of film and dialogue. Ten cities across the country will screen 10 unique films from the 2013 Festival and participants will have the opportunity to share in the excitement through a screening and discussion with each filmmaker.

Last year BAMcinématek screened Robot and Frank, starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon. Past previews have also included Gregg Araki’s Kaboom and Josh and Benny Safdie’s Daddy Longlegs.

This year we preview Kill Your Darlings, a new film about the Beat Generation starring Daniel Radcliffe. In 1944, Beat ring leader Lucien Carr murdered his stalker David Kammerer, an event that reverberated throughout Carr’s circle, affecting the lives and careers of his close friends Allen Ginsberg (Radcliffe), Jack Kerouac (Huston), and William Burroughs (Foster). Shot at some of the group’s old haunts in Morningside Heights and on the Columbia University campus, Kill Your Darlings is a chronicle of this untold story and a detailed look at how this sensational crime shaped the mystique of these brilliant writers—as well as one of the most influential literary movements of the 20th century.
