"You deserve better than that Annie," Lisa Brown began, "I just can't believe Danny that to you. Some people though, does a year relationship mean nothing anymore? First me and Chuck, and now you and Danny, don't worry though I'm definitely on your side..."
She went on like this for an hour, she always does. I just let her go on as we packed up my stuff. (NOTE TO ANNIE: Never move in with the first guy you meet in New York. Romantic movie like love stories aren't real, and collecting your things from the ex's apartment is not fun.)
"-Wow some people! You know what I mean Annie," asking questions using my name was a good sign. She was wrapping up her monologue soon. "Anyway, you know he was planning on being here as you collected your things. He was like 'I need to talk to Annie', but you know what I said?"
There was no point in asking she'd tell me but I did anyway, "What?"
"I think you lost that right when you were taught pants down in the bathroom!"
"His pants weren't down." I couldn't tell Lisa was hesitant after I said that. I was defending a cheater. Not just any cheater either, the boy who broke my heart.
"...Well, they might have well been." Lisa calmly packed up my green and blue dish set. As the silence filled the room, I just watched her. How can she still be the confident diva that Daniel introduced to me, and he so different? I can almost see the coffee shop the three of us sat in for hours as she and Daniel went back in forth. Everything went from sky high to broken.
