Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to star in Frankenstein, Fox’s revisionist take on the classic horror story by Mary Shelley.

Paul McGuigan is directing the project, which has a script by Chronicle scribe Max Landis and is being produced by John Davis. The casting goes against type for the usually clean cut Harry Potter star as Radcliffe will play Igor, the hunchback. He is described as pathologically dirty, with long hair and wearing old clown clothes. (A circus tone permeates much of the project, according to sources.)

A late-summer production start in the U.K. is being planned.

Amy wrote something she wanted to share. So here’s her message to everyone at SDR.

Growing up I would always go on Daniel Radcliffe fan sites thinking these people are so lucky to be able to have their job being able to write amazing things about this amazing man and be able to meet and become friends with other people who share the same interest.   Little did I know that one of those people one day would actually be me and have everyone at SDR to thank for that! I look more and more forward being able to come home from school and go on the Simply Daniel Radcliffe or on the little group on face book and talk to an incredible group of people brought together by the man of our dreams.  I can’t thank you guys enough but I have to say that I have two people I need to single out which are Marcie and Rebecca.  Marcie you brought this little family together and made me a part of it, I just wish I could sit here forever and thank you for it.  You are one of the most kind, caring and loving people I have ever met and hope to be able to see you again someday in person.  Rebecca you have become one of my best friends and I can’t believe how we have almost everything in common I only wish that someday we can see each other in person and make a YouTube video together.  To everyone else on SDR which there are too many to name I hope to be able to talk you more and get to know you even better, but It has to be said that all of you make me feel so special and so appreciated every time I go on and thank you so much! Film Independent co-presidents Sean Mc Manus and Josh Welsh jointly announced that Andy Samberg will serve as host for the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The nonprofit, which also produces the Los Angeles Film Festival and Film Independent at LACMA film series, will hold the 28th annual awards ceremony as a daytime luncheon in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica on Saturday, February 23 with the premiere broadcast airing later that evening at 10:00 pm ET/PT on IFC. Additionally, longtime executive producer Diana Zahn-Storey is returning for her 18th Spirit Awards show.

Sky Arts is in talks to commission a second series of John Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe’s record-breaking drama A Young Doctor’s Notebook.

Big Talk Productions hopes to secure a window of availability with the two actors for a second series of the Playhouse Presents show, which launched last year with over 500,000 viewers – Sky Arts’ biggest ever audience.

The four-part series was based on a collection of short stories by Russian writer and playwright Mikhail Bulgakov.

Hamm, best known for his role as Don Draper in US drama Mad Men, played a doctor working during the Russian Revolution who has a series of bleakly comic exchanges with his younger self, played by Radcliffe.

Recounting from his notebooks, the doctor considers his life and career as he tries to treat the patients of a village that is struggling to enter the modern age.

Big Talk, the indie behind BBC2 comedy Rev and Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner, made the series in association with Point West Pictures, the company owned by Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt.

“We hope to bring back A Young Doctor’s Notebook,” said Big Talk chief executive Kenton Allen. He added that Hamm and Radcliffe’s “heart is willing” but availability needs to be found in their diaries.

The first series debuted in December last year with 583,700 (2.29%) viewers and averaged 366,300 (1.45%) over its four parts.
