Dan appeared on the Today show talking about The Lost City and his newest project Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, calling it “the most fun thing I’ve done in my life.”

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness program. The film will screen on opening night, September 8. The full schedule will be released on August 23 according to the TIFF website.

Here’s a snippet from the interview:
“When you’re playing Al, to not give it a good, honest attempt seems a wasted opportunity,” Radcliffe said.
Yankovic replied, “Every time I see somebody play the accordion on TV or film, it’s always a disappointment.” (As an exception, he singled out Mary Steenburgen, who he said “can actually play.”) “Dan put in the effort,” he said. “I don’t know if he could do a solo performance.”
Radcliffe quickly responded, “No way, I could not. But I can do the left hand on ‘My Bologna’ pretty effectively. I learned the bits I needed for the songs, on one hand or the other.” He laughed and added, “Doing them both at the same time is a nonstarter.”

“It’s always so rewarding when you make something and you love it,” declares Daniel Radcliffe about portraying the larger-than-life satirist Weird Al Yankovic. For our recent webchat he adds, “The whole experience of shooting this movie was so special and fun, and then to put that out into the world and for it to inspire the same feeling in the people who watch it; you can’t really ask for anything more than that as an actor or a performer. So yeah, the reactions that the film’s gotten have been amazing.”

Weird is getting a Blu-Ray release December 12, the film is getting a 4K Blu-ray release from Shout Factory. Expect a ton of special features, as they always do with their releases, though a confirmed list is not available yet. We will update you when the list is available.
