A captivating modern-day fantasy filled with intrigue, suspense, mythology, magical objects, and special abilities, Jo Visuri’s adventurous tale will sweep you away to mystical Auor Island—where nothing is quite as it seems!
A remote island. Old secrets. And a cascade of unintended consequences.
Long ago, four clans from earth’s four corners were given magical abilities to help save humanity from oblivion. For generations, their descendants have lived in hidden communities and occasionally intermingled with regular humans—leading to whispers of unforeseen consequences.
Now, in the present-day and for unknown purposes, one Clan quietly and desperately
seeks the rumored, undiscovered offspring.
Meanwhile, in the heart of a northern archipelago, Elin Bodil leads a perfectly ordinary, happy life on Auor Island with her family. When, through accident and circumstance, she meets both a motorcycle-driving stranger and the new mysterious boy next door, Elin’s world is turned upside down.
As Elin is drawn into a brewing supernatural conflict—with her two unusual
acquaintances on opposite sides, she must decipher who to trust while
unearthing her island’s secrets and those buried deep within herself. But when
the search for answers triggers the Clan’s sinister schemes, Elin and her
companions will have to confront far bigger and deadlier secrets than they ever
imagined. And they’ll need much more than themselves to survive!
Welcome to Auor Island…and the legend and magic within its ruins!
Reviews:
“Jo Visuri does an outstanding
job of juxtaposing fantasy and real-world concerns as the tension and action
escalate [in The Undiscovered Descendants]…readers who want a
story about new and evolving relationships, changing life purposes and
perspectives, and threats to family and community connections will find The
Undiscovered Descendants an excellent, satisfying story…highly
recommended for teen fantasy readers who look for more than action and
adventure in their stories.” — D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, MIDWEST
BOOK REVIEW Highly Recommended
“Secrets emerge as two young men try to find out if their classmate Elin
is secretly a Dormant Descendant. Suspenseful and intriguing, The
Undiscovered Descendants will have its readers halfway out of their
seats. Brilliant characters, ancient Clans, special abilities, magic objects,
and teenage relationships all wrapped into a fantastic adventure.” — MANHATTAN
BOOK REVIEW
“The Undiscovered Descendants is told from three different
perspectives, and I love the seamless way that Elin’s, Aeden’s, and Tristan’s
tense stories weave together. The characters are fun and easy to both love and
hate. Jo Visuri has introduced a unique world that combines modern teenagers
and Scandinavian mythology in a delightfully refreshing way with a steady,
action-fueled pace that makes it impossible to put down.” — Amy,
READERS’ FAVORITE ★★★★★
“I loved every bit of the story right to the very last page. The
descriptions of the scenes are so vivid that they seem like a 3D projection.
Additionally, the thoughtfully constructed story covers an interesting range of
themes: jealousy, ambition, infatuation, secret societies, friendship, family,
and more.” — Foluso, READERS’ FAVORITE ★★★★★

What would you do if someone acted out—for real— the kill scenes from your student-made horror film?
That’s the dilemma facing high school seniors Cassie and Donovan. Best friends,
aspiring filmmakers, and hopeful romantic partners, they set out to complete a
feature-length horror film as a graduation project for their performing arts
high school. Using actors and crew from among their classmates, they aim to
finish the bulk of shooting over Spring Break. When several murders occur not
far from their locations—each one recreating a specific “kill” scene from their
script—they suddenly find themselves embroiled in a real-life horror movie
neither of them bargained for.
Cassie’s police officer dad and his ex-girlfriend—a homicide detective Cassie
once hoped would be her stepmom—allow the film shoot to continue because the
killer has threatened to murder Donovan’s mother if they stop. Traps are set
and arrests are made, but the killer—who might be a member of the cast or
crew—is one step ahead of their every move.
Can Cassie and Donovan help the police unmask the psychopath before more people
die?

Paramount comedy The Lost City will now open wide three weeks earlier than expected, the studio announced today, as its release date moves from April 15 to March 25, 2022.
The Paramount feature (formerly titled The Lost City of D) follows a reclusive romance novelist (Sandra Bullock) on a book tour with her cover model (Channing Tatum), watching as the pair get swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them in a cutthroat jungle adventure. It’s said to be in the vein of Robert Zemeckis’ classic Romancing the Stone, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

Title: A REBEL IN AUSCHWITZ: The True Story of the Resistance Hero who Fought the Nazis from Inside the Camp
Author: Jack Fairweather

Publisher: Scholastic Focus
Formats: Hardcover, eBook, Audiobook

With exclusive access to previously hidden diaries, family and camp survivor accounts, and recently declassified files, critically acclaimed and award-winning journalist Jack Fairweather brilliantly portrays the remarkable man who volunteered to face the unknown in the name of truth and country. This extraordinary and eye-opening account of the Holocaust invites us all to bear witness.
Occupied Warsaw, Summer 1940:
Witold Pilecki, a Polish underground operative, accepted a mission to uncover
the fate of thousands interned at a new concentration camp, report on Nazi
crimes, raise a secret army, and stage an uprising. The name of the camp —
Auschwitz.
Over the next two and half years, and under the cruellest of conditions,
Pilecki’s underground sabotaged facilities, assassinated Nazi officers, and
gathered evidence of terrifying abuse and mass murder. But as he pieced
together the horrifying Nazi plans to exterminate Europe’s Jews, Pilecki
realized he would have to risk his men, his life, and his family to warn the
West before all was lost. To do so meant attempting the impossible — but first
he would have to escape from Auschwitz itself…
Praise
for The Volunteer (adult edition):
“This
is a story that has long deserved a robust, faithful telling, and [Fairweather]
has delivered it.” — Wall Street Journal
“An
extraordinary story.” — The Times
* “A
forceful narrative with unstoppable reading momentum, Fairweather has created
an insightful biography of a covert war hero and an extraordinary contribution
to the history of the Holocaust.” — Booklist, starred review
“Witold
Pilecki is one of the great — perhaps the greatest — unsung heroes of the
second world war… Jack Fairweather’s meticulous and insightful book is likely
to be the definitive version of this extraordinary life.” — Economist
Review: This book was filled with information and imagery. I have to say Witold was very brave to do what he had to save his family and more. There’s lots of stories that are untold that we can never comprehend during this bad time in history. If you like reading about the holocaust this is definitely a book to pick up.
About Jack Fairweather:
Jack
Fairweather is a former war reporter in Iraq and Afghanistan and the author of A
War of Choice and The Good War. The adult edition that tells this
story is titled The Volunteer: The True Story of the Resistance Hero Who
Infiltrated Auschwitz, which was named winner of the Costa Award and a #1 Sunday
Times bestseller. Jack has served as the Daily Telegraph’s Baghdad
bureau chief, and as a video journalist for the Washington Post in
Afghanistan. His war coverage has won a British Press Award and an Overseas
Press Club award citation.
