Keep Me in Sight Book Cover Keep Me in Sight

A night she can hardly remember. A night she will never forget.

It’s about Dan.

These three words jolt Brynn back to the big boozy night she spent with her boyfriend Dan. The same night his ex, Erin, showed up. Erin says something terrible happened that night. Dan says he never touched her. Trouble is, Erin has evidence to prove it.

Brynn can vouch for him though. She was there that night that they can hardly remember, but will never forget. While Brynn pieces together her fractured memories, lost that night at the bottom of a bottle, facing the horrifying possibility that maybe Dan isn’t completely innocent. Maybe he’s guilty as charged.

But as Brynn inches closer to the truth, she begins to wonder: Who is the predator? And who is the prey?

Gloria knows the answer. She’s a psychic who turned her back on her ability after she failed to prevent a terrible tragedy. As her painful past floods back to her, can she learn to trust her gift again before it’s too late? Or will her painful past hold her back from saving someone’s future . . . and quite possibly their life.

This addictive and suspenseful thriller explores the fault lines between broken memories and shattered trust, and will keep you up well past your bedtime.

REVIEW: As I read “Keep Me In Sight” it reminded me of old times. Friends hanging out together and just having a good time. When Erin enters the picture and ruins Dan’s deployment party things become interesting. You think what happened to them and how they broke up. Erin seemed nice, but she also had a creepy aura. Was she telling Brynn the truth about what happened between her and Dan or was it all a lie. I have yet to read the actual truth, but look forward to completing it. I love the what happened or who done what. It’s truly one book you won’t put down.

About Rachel:
Rachel is an American expat, living abroad since 2008. She lived in Sydney Australia for a number of years, Italy, Switzerland, and has sailed over 11,000 nautical miles, crossing the Indian Ocean three times and sinking only once. She’s the proud granddaughter of two World War II fighter pilot war heros. Richard ‘Blackie’ Blackledge was a WWII B-17 heavy bomber pilot. Post war, he became a successful writer. And George Jensen flew the dreaded B-29 superfortress. They both lived on well into their 90s.

“I lost two special friends, and the world lost great men, but they’re both with me still, sending me pearls of wisdom from the great beyond, telling me over the roar of the engines to: ‘Pick up the pace or you’ll get your butt blown off!’

“Okay, maybe that’s not them. But it’s still good advice.”

Rachel lives in Singapore with her husband, baby boy, and rescue pup named Jessica Shadow Shady Lady Lauro.

WHEN THE OCEANS RISE...THE TRUTH DROWNS

The year 2031. Our future. Their present. A world ruined by climate catastrophe, where the sun's heat kills and the oceans rise higher every day. A world ruled by the wealthy and corrupt. A world where a good man cannot survive for long. Hogan Duran was a good man once: a good cop, forced to resign in disgrace when he couldn't save his partner from a bullet. Now he lives on the fraying edges of society, serving cruel masters and scavenging trash dumps just to survive. But Hogan's ship is about to come in. He's invited to join the National Security Council, the powerful paramilitary organization that protects the ruling elite from the uglier elements of this new society. All he needs to do is pass their deadly entrance exam, and Hogan will be rewarded with wealth and opportunity beyond his wildest dreams. But this ex-cop's path to redemption won't be easy. The NSC are hiding something, and as Hogan descends ever-deeper into their world, he begins to uncover the awful truth of just how the elite in this new society keep their power¿and how far they'll go to keep their secrets. In a world gone wrong, can one good man actually make a difference? Or will he die trying?

Review: From the start of this amazing book things start off kind of slow. You see that Hogan is not really a hero. He was an ex-cop who was down on his luck and doing anything to survive. It’s not until Hogan gets to the NSC that things start to get interesting.

I found this book has a lot to offer. Things just kept getting more interesting as you dig further into it. There’s a lot more, but I will let you the reader find out what happens next. If you like the end of the world type of books this one is a real winner.

REVIEW: This book had you on the edge when Amanda slips into Noah’s bed things are steamy but when she realizes its Noah and not Luke. She is beyond surprised to see his reaction. I liked this story cause you never really knew if this was some fling or if it was something more. I won’t spoil the end for you, but it really was a good read. Rebecca put a lot into this and you could tell. I hope I get to read more from her collection soon.

About Rebecca:

She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.

My Review

This book was the most cutest book I have ever seen. It was illustrated with vivid color and is just a cute book to own. Not only does it come with the story. It has a crossword, cut out of Freeda the Frog and pages you can color including bookmarks and discussion questions. The overall story is put in a children’s prospective and it explained the differences on families. This is the 5th book in the Freeda the Frog series.

Book Review: Come Home, Indio: A Memoir

Come Home, Indio: A Memoir Book Cover Come Home, Indio: A Memoir
Jim Terry
Non-Fiction
Street Noise Books
September 22, 2020
Paperback
240
PDF

This powerful graphic novel shares the author's journey of discovering his spiritual home as a Native American. From a childhood in suburbia, disconnected from his identity as an Indigenous person, through an urban adulthood marked by a struggle with alcoholism and the death of his parents, to his life-altering experience at Standing Rock, he begins to find a new sense of self as a Native and as an American.

Review: This book was surprisingly a format I never read before. It was comic book style and with each illustration it told me about Jim’s story growing up. Its was really fascinating to learn about him and his life as he grew up. I found his story was really sad with the loss of his older brother. There is a lot more in there, but you must read this for yourself. If the story doesn’t move you the illustrations will. I wanna thank Jim and Liz Frances for introducing me to his memoir. It’s truly remarkable.

Jim Terry was born in Southern California and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. His mother was a Native American from the Ho-Chunk nation of Wisconsin, and his father was an Irish American jazz musician from Chicago. Jim is a prolific comic book artist who has worked on such comics as The Crow: Skinning the Wolves; Sundowners; Alice Cooper vs. Chaos; Vampirella and more. He travels the ComicCon circuit and has self-published several of his own comic books. Jim lives in Chicago with his four cats.

Book Review: Scheme

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the SCHEME by Jennifer Sommersby Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

About The Book:
Title: SCHEME (AVRA-K #2)
Author: Jennifer Sommersby
Pub. Date: April 21, 2020
Publisher: Sky Pony Press
Formats: Hardcover, eBook
Pages: 456

The key to good is found in truth.

Genevieve may have left the circus behind in Oregon, but there is plenty of show still to come.

When she and Henry land in France, they are whisked away to Croix-Mare, the home of Henry’s grandfather, Nutesh, where they will prepare for a journey they never could’ve imagined. Now that they have all three AVRAKEDAVRA texts—Life, Death, and Memory—the books must be destroyed in the Undoing.

However, it’s not as simple as taking the books to their birthplace in Babylon and setting them alight. Genevieve and Henry must rely on unexpected allies as they embark on a harrowing global search to acquire pieces necessary to complete the Undoing. They’re offered cover and protection by La Vérité, the secret network of followers devoted to the message of the AVRAKEDAVRA, who, not surprisingly, are found under the big top—because no one does underground quite like the circus.

But loyalties among the magical community are fragile. Genevieve, still grieving the loss of her mother, now struggles to control the new AVRAKEDAVRA-bestowed gifts, and with mounting threats to her psyche and body, she clings mightily to the promise of a brighter future once this is over—if they can survive it. And Henry, broken by his father’s treachery but entranced by the heartwarming connection his family’s text has granted him, grapples with the fact that once they succeed in destroying the books, he’ll lose the only family he has left.

Together, our two young heirs will learn that when hope has abandoned us, the overwhelming love of friendship and family is all the magic we need.

About Book 1:
Title: SLEIGHT (AVRA-K #1)

Delia smiles at the shadow only she sees—

Something slams into her. The lyra whirls like a half-dollar spinning on its edge.

My mother is thrown backward.

And she falls.

Growing up in the Cinzio Traveling Players Company, Genevieve Flannery is accustomed to a life most teenagers could never imagine: daily workouts of extravagant acrobatics; an extended family of clowns; wild animals for pets; and her mother, Delia, whose mind has always been tortured by visions—but whose love Geni never questions. In a world of performers who astonish and amaze on a daily basis, Delia’s ghostly hallucinations never seemed all that strange . . . until the evening Geni and her mother are performing an aerial routine they’ve done hundreds of times, and Delia falls to her death.

That night, a dark curtain in Geni’s life opens. Everything has changed.

Still reeling from the tragedy, the Cinzio Traveling Players are also adjusting to the circus’s new owner: a generous, mysterious man whose connection to the circus—Geni suspects—has a dark and dangerous history. And suddenly Geni is stumbling into a new reality of her own, her life interrupted daily by the terrors only Delia used to be able to see.

As the visions around her grow stronger, Geni isn’t sure who she can trust. Even worse, she’s starting to question whether she can trust her own mind.

Praise for Sleight

“Jennifer Sommersby’s Sleight makes magic from an enthralling premise, wonderfully-drawn characters, and beautiful words. It’s hard to avoid descriptors like entrancing, spell-binding and mystical.” —Michael Grant, New York Times bestselling author of the Gone series

“Fantasy readers will fall in love with Sleight. Like a circus, it’s an intoxicating mix of beauty, humor, magic, and danger that means the reader can’t bear to look away until the final page.” —Eileen Cook, author of With Malice

“Startlingly imaginative and vividly realized.” —Ira Bloom, author of Hearts & Other Body Parts

Review: This book is the next chapter into the Saga of the Sleight the book I read a while back. It brought new characters and opened up the world to this incredible story. If you are excited to read this please do. Jennifer is a wonder to the reading community. She brings fantasy in a whole different way. In this you learn new secrets to Gen’s past what happened to the scarred Lion when she was 5 and so much more. So check it out.

Book Review: No Nice Girl Swears

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the NO NICE GIRL SWEARS by Alice-Leone Moats Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

    About The Book:
Title: NO NICE GIRL SWEARS: Notes on High Society, Social Graces, and Keeping Your Wits from a Jazz-Age Debutante
Author: Alice-Leone Moats foreword by Stellene Volandes
    Pub. Date: April 7, 2020
    Publisher: Apollo Publishers
    Formats: Hardcover, eBook
    Pages: 184

No Nice Girl Swears is the original, trailblazing guide to the “new etiquette,” brimming with timeless advice on style, romance, and grace, and finally back in print 90 years after its original release. Forewords by today’s editor in chief of Town & Country and the editor in chief of Vogue from 1914–1952.

Heralded as the go-to guide for soon-to-be debutantes and ladies who’d recently made their debut, No Nice Girl Swears ushered in a “new etiquette” on its release in 1933, much to the shock—and delight—of the high-society crowd of jazz-age America. Today it is equal parts time capsule (how to dress for dinner on your transatlantic voyage) and timeless missive (how to ditch a date who’s had a few too many).

Worldly-wise socialite Alice-Leone Moats advises on everything from style and dating to travel and party throwing, and weeds through the dos and don’ts of weddings, weekend trips, and the workplace. Her wisdom, though steeped in the charm of her time, endures: treat others—and yourself—with respect, always put your best foot forward, and don’t throw a party without champagne. It’s just good manners.

This keepsake volume includes a new foreword from Stellene Volandes, the editor in chief of Town & Country, the original foreword from Edna Woolman Chase, Vogue’s editor in chief from 1914–1952, and a contextualizing preface. It encourages consideration of what etiquette rules we’d like instilled today, and shows how Moats helped usher in a world where women could speak—and act—freely.

“A book of modern etiquette for the modern debutante and sub deb, with an eye on her mother. Definitely keyed to the city and suburban communities, rather than the small town. Humor and commonsense combined in due proportion in answering such questions as: Shall I ask him in? May I call you up some time? What is the technique of being picked up? What should be done if my escort passes out on me? And so on. In addition, the author gives the latest usage in the matter of debutante parties, chaperonage (you’d be surprised!), engagements, weddings, clothes, week-end parties, and other contingencies. In good taste, and yet distinctly smart. The book itself is another experiment in colored stock—yellow this time—but since the books are to be sealed with cellophane wrappers, the prospective buyer wont know what she is getting until the purchase is made.”
    Kirkus Review

“In spite of such reminiscent titles of ‘Shall She Ask Him In?’ and ‘Never Speak To Strangers Unless They Speak to You,’ these chapters contain serious advice—the pragmatism of it all cloaked in a flippant and humor-flecked style.”
    New York Times

    Excerpt:

Review: This book is a timeless piece, a guide to what woman went through back in the old days. It states how things were and what you were supposed to do, but in this day and age everything has changed. I found the customs in this book were rather odd, but viable. If you want to give yourself a history lesson this is one way to do it. My Rating: 4 Stars

The Vampire Diaries meets Native lore in this dark fantasy romance.

    An immortal guardian.
    A soul-stealing enemy.
    A dangerous, new power.
Only the Spirit Breather can stand against the darkness…

Months after surviving an assault that nearly claimed her life, Emily Morrow’s summer goal is to forget about the memories that lurk in her nightmares. So when her friends invite her on a post-grad camping trip in the mountains, she jumps at the chance to escape her haunting past, even for just a few days.

But even miles from home, Emily’s past is closer than ever.

When her best friend, Kadie, is snatched by the dark creatures nesting in the forest, Emily comes face to face with the truth behind her chilling past. Together, with the mysterious Joseph Stomper, who is much more than he seems, Emily must find the courage to embrace her role in a centuries-old prophecy and harness a dangerous gift before she loses everyone she loves.

With Kadie’s life hanging in the balance, will Emily learn to control her new power? Or will the darkness destroy them both?

Filled with deadly magic, frightening folklore, and forbidden romance, The Spirit Breather is a spine-tingling paranormal fantasy that will keep you turning pages well past your bedtime.

    What Readers are Saying:

“Sometimes a book will come along that will surprise and captivate you, it will draw you into the story and make you a part of the world. This is such a book!! This book was simply brilliant!!! I adored every minute of it.” – Natalie, A Book Lover’s Life

“It was so refreshing to open this book up to a new kind of story, with Native American characters taking center-stage and diving into an entire mythos of lore, spiritual awakening, latent magical powers, ageless sage leaders, and, naturally, angsty young people battling not only big scary monsters, but themselves in a conflict of deep personal struggle, of self discovery, of a painful past, and of a hopeful future.” – Dustin Street, Big Small Town Books

“The amount of detail and heart Harris put into her characters and setting make The Spirit Breather stand out from the crowd. The story is wildly entertaining, the characters are easy to love, the plot is carefully crafted, and the writing is lovely. This was a refreshing read and I’m looking forward to more about Joseph and Emily in the future.” – Amazon Customer

Born and raised in the mountains of East Tennessee, Bekah Harris has been writing since she could hold a pencil. The beauty of her home in the Appalachian Mountains, along with the legends, myths, and folklore of that area, is what inspires the unique plots and settings captured in her young adult fiction. When not working, Bekah can be found at home building block towers for her son to knock down, drinking coffee and watching Netflix with her husband.

I entertain naked people for a living. No, not THAT kind of entertainment. I own a nudist resort. I'm not a nudist, but Val Silva is. And he's a human supernova sleeping in the room next door.

The man is tall, gorgeous, tattooed, and a shameless exhibitionist. As the Brazilian bad boy of the international football world, he's as famous for his sextape as for his talent on the field. Oh, did I mention he walks around naked ALL the time? A girl only has so much willpower. Maybe we can have a little fun… as long as his tabloid past doesn't mess with my quiet life.

Eve Holt is the sexiest woman I've ever seen, in those short-shorts and tank tops that make me wonder what she's hiding underneath. Most women love my wild side, but Eve thinks I'm trouble with a capital T. Okay, she might have a point there. But I always get what I want, and I want her. I didn't lead my team to Olympic gold by giving up. That's one fact about me Eve is about to learn.

Natural Passion is the first book in a brand-new trilogy of romantic comedies from Anna Durand, the bestselling author of the Hot Scots series.

    About Anna:
Anna Durand loves romance, men in kilts, and cheesecake. Not always in that order. She slaves away every day writing about sexy people doing sexy things together, with heart and humor and sometimes with suspense. With paranormal stories, she explores the darker side of romance. With contemporary romance, she delves into the emotional side of love and sensuality.

Readers and reviewers have blessed Anna’s books with wonderful reviews, giving her a nice glowy feeling that she’s doing something right. Her books have become bestsellers on every major retail site, hitting #1 multiple times. The Hot Scots series remains Anna’s personal favorite and a favorite among her fans. Who can resist a hunky Scotsman?

Anna also has a master’s degree in library science, so naturally, she made Calli in Wicked in a Kilt a librarian too. For twelve years and counting, Anna has run a cataloging services company that creates cataloging-in-publication data for other authors and publishers. And when she’s not doing that or writing, you’ll find her binging on audiobooks, playing with puppies, or crafting handmade jewelry.

Visit AnnaDurand.com to subscribe to her newsletter for updates on her writing and other fun stuff. You’ll receive a free gift as thanks for signing up!
